So, a spring or two ago, I was outside searching for signs of where blackberries would sprout, in the following summer. I took my camera with me, because I wanted to photograph potential sites, for later reference. But I took a bunch of other photos, at the same time.
As always during the green times of year, I was struck in awe by everything around me. (Except for my father's various garbage monuments.) The whole world is green and big and overgrown and it all seems to glow in some magical sort of way. There are many times, when I've just stopped in my tracks, to lose track of time while staring out into leafy green nothingness; entranced, my thoughts get lost in it.
For this, and for its apparent unnavigability, I've come to call it "The Enchanted Forest." And our house is at the center of it. Protected from prying satelites, by its extensive canopy.
Anyway, I rediscovered those photos, today.
I don't know if they really do it justice, but maybe you can understand a bit why I find it so transfixing.
